The need to take preventive and deterrent measures in response to rising crime rates in the country has boosted imports of security cameras, which reached $1.3 million in September, up $36.41tbp from the previous month, according to the Lima Chamber of Commerce's Center for Foreign Trade Development and Research.
The Lima Chamber of Commerce's Foreign Trade Development and Research Center said that the positive momentum of imports in these two months is due to the approaching Christmas and New Year celebrations, when there is more criminal activity. The amount of imported surveillance cameras has increased since June, with purchases reaching $1 million, a month-on-month increase of $90.63%, although the total purchase amount in July was $333,000, a decrease of 67.18%. In August, imports amounted to $995,000, a year-on-year increase of $198.92%, continuing the strong growth momentum in September.
This is also due to the resumption of economic activity and the end of the COVID-19 pandemic, which means that criminal activity is active again. In this sense, citizens and business owners need these surveillance camera devices to strengthen and monitor the exterior and interior of their homes, businesses, public institutions and even entire streets and neighborhoods. The Center for Foreign Trade Development and Research of the Lima Chamber of Commerce estimates that the import volume of security surveillance cameras may continue to increase this year, taking into account the need for protection.
